“I have a real passion for social justice, and have done some study in social justice and psychology,” she said. “I have worked in community services before and I have a background in homelessness. I am really interested in helping people who are disadvantaged and in providing equality in the community and that is what Ability Links is about. That is what drew me into Ability Links.”
Linkers try to connect people with “real mainstream services”, Sharman said, aiming for “real social inclusion”.
“Where everybody, no matter what is happening for you, participates equally … and together in the community.’’
Sharman also shared some of her success stories, including that of a Year 9 high school student who was supported to pursue his passion, which led to ongoing work experience with Sydney Buses.
