Self-proclaimed Port Stephens ‘celebrity’, Robbie Harper, who relies on a wheelchair for mobility, says he felt down in the dumps and felt he had nothing to occupy him when his wife passed away.
“I didn’t know what to do or where to go to occupy my time or to socialise, or to do virtually anything, because my wife Liz mainly everyone in the town, I didn’t know everyone in the town back then.
Ability Links really helped my self-esteem. I did bit of work over at the Neighbourhood Centre, and helped out at Meals With Wheels for a few months, and helped at a few groups that Ability Links was involved with.
Robbie says he feels as though he has been empowered through is contact with Ability Links to give back to the community.
